The madman is the man who has lost everything except his reason."

A Day for the equal terms in the Community
Sunday, May 11, 2008, 02:48 AM EST [General]
Yesterday was taken place an excellently organized event, "The Rehabilitation Social Day" as l have read about it on the web, but it was actually a day for the equal terms for people with several difficulties and disabilities in the wider community. It was a great event, rich in programms, and free preventive examinations e.g. blood tests, body-weight controll, audiology, and many many other useful preventive medical help, there were stands for the latest modern mobility devices, what's more, even had a place for the ancient chineese medical practice which has been very popular among the other stands for the free tests. It revealed my sugar level is too high and l could get some pieces of advice about how l should eat properly and l even managed to get a very refreshing medical massage too at a stand for spine gymnastic. l heard a very interesting lecture about stress, related to e.g. MS illness, where the stress can be especially dangerous. While this was going on one side of the sports hall, there were brilliant performances on the other side, by several disabled and able- bodied single artists or artist groups. I especially enjoyed the fantastic appearance of the wheelchair dancer groups and the awesome production of the deaf players, not to speak of that the whole performance of them has been attended with an interpreter of sign language, that just lift the standard of the whole day more higher. It was also a great power lifting presentation by some disabled sportsmen, one of them won the bronze medal in the latest paralympic games in power lifting. But some, who didn't have fancy watching the performances or testing their health condition, could play indoor ball games or board games, chess at the tables, or they just could talk with each other, so everyone has had a very exhausting but lovely and fantastic day.
