    Introducing wheelchair accessible Thailand

Monday, October 29, 2007, 05:30 PM CET [General]

    Hello fellow travellers,

I'm John, 50 years old, Dutch and always looking for exciting new travel opportunities. Since the Travel group is looking for experiences I joint this community.

Last Januari I visited Thailand with my able bodied wife, see fotograph. The experience was one of a lifetime. I came accross a wheelchair accessible holiday home on the WWW and didn't hesitate to book it. It looked really accessible. If you want to take a look check this website www.wheelchairaccessibleholidayhomesfordisabledpeople.com .

KLM, the Dutch Airline, offers a straight flight to Bangkok, and a taxi company with wheelchair accessible vans took me to Hua Hin. And then a miracle happened. It was like the owners showed on their website. Beautiful furnished, wheelchair accessible throughout, accessible pool and whirlpool with hoist and a very nice and helpfull Thai housekeeper. She cooks very delicious diners too.

I took trips to Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Ayuthhya, Petchburi and off course I explored Hua Hin. Hua Hin is the Royal Beach Resort. The Thai Royal family has its summerpalace over here. This means clean and safe streets, helpfull policemen to cross roads, accessible pavements/sidewalks, accessible beach, great restaurants, lovely bars with nice girls ( not for me tells my wife) etc. A very nice place to be. In autumn, winter and spring temperatures are moderate and bearable to Europeans.

Do you have questions? Mail me. I try to answer as soon as possible.
