110708 Deep
stuff
I had a deep
session with Cheryl where she displayed again, why I think so much of her. She
is a very useful friend. After this motivating time, she then asked me to do a
favour for her. All I had to do was buy her brother’s birthday present. www,
click click, bang. At least I was able to give something back.
As if I didn’t
realise it had been motivating, I then did a 2 walk with Cheryl , the first
time in years!!
We went up to Chris ex-Windows
(ex windows because his windows have been normalised) to admire the work his
wife Jenn has had done on the rendering. It looks good, but talk about
whingeing , will he ever be happy with someone else’s work?
MJ and JW went
out to the Swan at Hoxne in the BMW. Food was OK with a “Marie” salad i.e.
basic, too much pasta in lasagne but good beer for JW. The service was very
good, up to the payment point where we had to wait yonks. Paper run out,
battery weak, bla bla bla. We discussed my attendance at a Cromer tennis
tournament in the summer to support his boy.

Fish
Chris arrived as
normal Cheryl to sell his fish waters at Cheryl 16.00. I joked with him that by
the time he reached us, all the good fish was gone. To take the wind out of my
sails he then produced a £10 piece of my favourite fish, halibut, that he had
“put aside” for me. Talk about feeling guilty about what I had just said………..
Roger, the man who recruited me into Mars came for
an overnight stay. He bought a box of “Celebrations” competing, “
Rick Clegg made a small detour of 90 mins each way
from M11 to come and see us. It was great to see him and fab to hear about the
successes of his kids.

RETURN
I JUST COMPLETED
MY TAX RETURN. In terms of numbers filled in, its not very complicated. In
terms of spreadsheet manipulation its quite complicated. The last number to receive
is the official annual average exchange rate for Swiss Franc. Now, having
printed out all my worksheets, I filled in the Circa 10 numbers, signed the
form, detailed my workings on the box provided and copied the form for me to
keep. Now H has to fold the form, put in the envelope and post it. Its due on
31st October, I’ve done it a bit early but its done, posted and OFF
my list of things to do.
Cheryl affected by rain just 1 lap.

smashing.
My new mate,
Steve, arrived with my pumped tyres for my chair. He slowly didn’t get out of
his (poor farmer) brand new Golf GTI as could be normally expected. He
explained that he had had a work accident and smashed 4,000 eggs as the
shelving unit fell on his legs. He was rushing off to see the rugby club
physio. He phoned a friend to ask what he should do with 4,000 smashed eggs?
Fancy an omelette ?
He kindly brought a load of CDs for my I-tunes.
Goldfrapp was new and very good. 2 of their CD s didn't allow me to copy them.
Marc Rappers came for a morning of lads time. We
went for a walk and got soaked and stayed under a huge oak tree to minimize the
impact of the heavy rain. 30 minutes later, 30 minutes sun and we were dry !!

One of my
generous friends, Marc, came round to make a plan. He was having a weeks
holiday and fancied doing something tomorrow morning. He will be here at 10.00.
he is a rare friend. Rareties list.
1 He
has 3 kids, each beautifully behaved. They are a pleasure to be around. (rarely
to be heard from my mouth).
2 He
has a job which basically pays him hourly, but takes Fridays off so that he can
do adult stuff with his wife, without the interruption of their kids. Often
they go out for lunch but frequently they jus go out for a walk or jog. Investying
time in adult stuff is something I rarely see.
3 He
was the only adult to come to our house warming party WITHOUT kids.
4 He
earns well but spends on living, eating, drinking rather than gadgets,
holidays, cars etc
Steve came round
for a JD young meal. He is 40 and living the student life of going out, eating,
drinking and being chased by women. Understandably he is thoroughly enjoying it.
Good lad.
060708 Glad I
was wearing long trousers
Today was the
tractor fest. 95 women and their tractors doing a day route (inc lunch break of
course). I was asked to sponsor June Thorpe a month go and yesterday Mandy
(randy Mandy?) phoned to talk “Meatloaf” but quickly broke into “would you
sponsor me ?” …”oh OK then”. I was quite looking forward to going out to
support them but it was rained off.
Cheryl 1+1 then

050708 Nice mild
but warm weather
As we are going out
tonight I decided to wear long trousers. Since it was forecast to be showery I
decided to stay in and potter rather than visit
One of the
chores was to pay Mark and Cheryl. I paid Cheryl without hitch.as I searched my
short, cica 10 payees I couldn't find Mark. Barclays had somehow deleted him
from my list of payees. I phoned the normally very helpful 0800 premier banking
team. They couldn't help me sothey suggested I talk to their online time,
located in
“We
automatically clear out those not used in 12 months” “Well I used him last
week.”
Did I care ? was
it worth the stress of trying to find what had happened? NO NO, so I phoned
Mark and re-got his details.

Open Day feedback
How professional
a “Post project” feedback meeting to follow and a collection of ideas is being
collected. A thoroughly professional end to a very well organised day.
Do you remember the day when you phoned the local
tax office, got a bespectacled old lady and were duly served. Now IF you can
find a number, it will be 0845 (chargeable from portables) and you will be kept
waiting for minutes “We are sorry to keep you waiting…..”. You ask for a form that
was sent two weeks ago. Oh says expert, it goes 2nd class and it can
take 2 weeks to arrive. Then an hour later, the postman arrives with it !!!
Rain stopped play. Mark carefully sprayed roundup
around the trees after we had consulted Metcheck for rain reports. Then at
1300, bang on forecast, the rain arrived. Ran stopped me splitting more primula
AND the last hour was wasted. Oh well, we are governed by the wind, when we
chose to spray.
As I have said many times, Man of Leisure MOL, only
has one busy… ish day per week. Its Thursday. Today on top of my normal visitors,
farmer Steve came for 20 minutes and cut the path.
Next to arrive was Ray Chapman to talk about the
pavilion by the pond. His first comment was that at a surprising 58, identified
my Australian Pink Floyd t-shirt. He had
seen them 15 times.
As my stomach is
far from well, H has fixed up for some analysis. The starting point is to send

Cheryl managed a
very lerthargic MJ to 1+1. this was after 4 successive 1+1 then 1+1, none
needing support, knee holding or any other reason for Cheryl support. I offered
her my veg production and she took lettuce, dill coriander and some black
currants.

As we speak my,
newly set up, standing order is winging its’ way here. I wonder how long before
it gets here?
Drove to Holt (90 mins) to see Sarah my 1985
girlfriend. Her kids, Cloe and Rory, made the day. Apparently me getting as
kiss from 5 year old Cloe was very rare. It was great to see her and great she
had invited us to see her.
Amazingly H wasn't expected to cook lunch (rare) and
as we arrived at 12.00, she, family and parents were immediately ready (unheard
of) to walk the short distance to the small park. What was very impressive was the quality of
the salads (pine nuts, peach, brie) and bread (French and beer bread) which we
dug into. Even H dug in. As pudding, we proposed ice creams in the café. But
apart from the cramped space, the doors, the +30 deg heat and the inflexible
serving suggestions it was very friendly. We retreated to another café where
the kids got our cones and we sat under a tree and chatted. It is still amazing
to me how we have such different memories from that short 5 months of our
lives.
300608 Health
I have a new
member of our helpers. Richard came highly recommended (By Bo amoungst others).
He has, so far, worked well on getting the barbed wire, previous pony fences,
out of the hedge. He had told me of back pains but today it got worse. He
stopped after 2 hours and retired home. At 17 he needs to take this rather
seriously and start the long road to fixing it before it disables him. He has a
long action list, about which I avoid the word “should”. College, smoking, life
etc are on the list.
